To Whom it May Concern:
I am a dedicated, hard-working professional with a unique background in art, technology and education. I currently work for a growing business that encapsulates all three backgrounds, and during my time there the business has flourished into the region's largest elementary-age STEM-education program, in great part due to my direct influence. I have learned an immense amount in the time I have worked there, but I have reached a point where what I can learn while on the job has plateaued and I am ready for more.
I am incredibly grateful to my current employer for all the opportunities and professional development I have received within my time at his company. With his support, I aim to further my education by entering business school for Fall 2019.
While I hope to fortify the business acumen I already have, I consider it incredibly important that I expand my knowledge-base and learn disciplines of business with which I have no experience. With this in mind, I am looking for a program that is interdisciplinary in nature, and allows me to create the learning experience that is best for me while I achieve my degree.
Collaboration is the other key characteristic I have been considering while researching and applying for business school. A healthy, competitive spirit can be a great source of productivity for a company, but personally I work best when I work with, rather than against, my peers to achieve something greater than I could individually. This absolutely applies to learning as well. I am looking to thrive in an environment of mutual respect and encouragement, where the goal of a critique is not to make myself look better but to help another person become better. I was excited to find in my research that a number of prestigious schools encourage a collaborative work environment with their student-base, and I am honored to be applying to them for the Fall.
